DETROIT (AP) A high school hockey coach honored as one of
Michigan's best has pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography.
Robert Bopp admitted his crimes Thursday before U.S. District
Judge Patrick Duggan. He faces a minimum of 15 years in prison for
the charges, which emerged from a sexual assault investigation. He
pleaded guilty to two counts of producing child pornography and
another for attempting to produce it.
Bopp is expected to plead guilty in February to state charges
related to sexually assaulting a teen boy.
Bopp was fired as coach at Grosse Pointe South High School after
being charged in June. He led the Blue Devils to a state
championship game in 2007 and is a member of the hall of fame for
Michigan prep hockey coaches.
