Green-powered car breaks world speed record

This sure beats gasoline. Cruising Up North at 220.7 mph, the bio-fueled E85 Viper set the new world record for a street car in the standing mile -- breaking the gas-powered car record of 217.85.

Owned by Karl Jacob, the 1200 horsepower E85 Viper rocketed from a standstill to 220.7 MPH in one mile, taking 27.41 seconds at the Oscoda-Wurtsmith Airport, proving that going green does not equal going slow.

Besides its modified engine and renewable fuel, the E85 Viper gets its power from a side-mounted twin turbo system created by SVS. To see pictures and video of the world record run, visit www.e85viper.com.
