WWJ Newsradio 950 has been my radio home since 1990. Radio and the World have changed dramatically over that period of time, and even more so since I started in the business almost 30 years ago. But one thing that hasn’t changed is how much you, the listener, depend on us to give you reliable, timely information that is important to your life, especially since September 11th. And that’s a responsibility that all of us here at Newsradio 950 take very seriously.
One thing that really sets WWJ apart is how many of us grew up in Metro Detroit. My love for radio dates back to my childhood days in lake Orion, where I would spend nights trying to tune in far away stations from Chicago, St. Louis, Boston, New Orleans, and other cities…or listen to Ernie Harwell’s golden tones on the 8 transistor radio underneath my pillow. I first became one of those “Radio Voices” back in the 70’s while working at WCBN, the University of Michigan student radio station, where I eventually became News Director. After that came stops at stations in Ann Arbor and Detroit, and two years teaching other future broadcasters at The Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts in Southfield.
Besides Radio, my other passions include the movies, reading - - especially biographies - - and travelling to faraway destinations, including trips to China (twice), Bali, London and Colorado.
You can hear me Monday through Friday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
