New Home For Shrine Circus

Southfield (WWJ)  -- The Detroit  Shrine Circus has found a new home.  The circus, which has been an annual tradition for more than 100  years, will move this year from the State Fairgrounds to the Hazel Park Raceway.

“We are elated at the generosity of Hazel Park Raceway for helping the Shriners allow the show to go on,” said Charles Baer, Circus Director for the 2010 Detroit Shrine Circus, in a statement.

Tickets go on sale Tuesday at noon for the show, which will be held March 18th through the 21st.

Hazel Park Raceway is at Ten Mile and Dequindre.

The Shriners had to move the event after the State Fairgrounds were shut down because of state budget cuts.
