Nov. 26: America's Thanksgiving Parade!

The most wonderful time of the year begins in Southeast Michigan on Thursday, Nov. 26, when America's Thanksgiving Parade steps off at 9:20 a.m. at Woodward and Mack Ave. in Detroit.

The theme for the 83rd America’s Thanksgiving Parade® is "Together We Shine."  The theme celebrates The Parade Company bringing a spark of magic and people together to enjoy one of Detroit’s largest and free events where for one special moment, families can be entertained, share a tradition and create a memory.

As we celebrate the theme of this year’s Parade, The Parade Company is asking the metro Detroit community to join together to celebrate this civic event that is so important to our community.

The parade will feature crowd favorites and new surprises with more than 75 Parade units including floats, balloons, marching bands, clowns, specialty acts and The Distinguished Clown Corps and Big Head Corps.

In the spirit of shining together, The Parade Company is launching a food drive to help those in need in our community. The non-perishable food items will be collected at various Parade Company events, now through Parade season, and will be donated to Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan.

GRANDSTAND SEATS ARE SOLD OUT!  But there is still plenty of room along the parade route.

The parade last approximately two hours, ending at Woodward Avenue and Congress. Click here for a parade route map (.pdf format).

Be sure to tune to WWJ Newsradio 950 for live coverage during the parade.

Congratulations to the 2009 America’s Thanksgiving Parade Queen, Brenna O’Malley, and 2009 America’s Thanksgiving Parade® Princesses, Amanda Robinet,  Shannon Boyle and Claire Conley!  Learn More
