U of M Experts To Unveil Mich. Forecast Today

Ann Arbor (AP)  -- University of Michigan economists are looking at what Michigan's troubled economy might do in 2010.

The economists will release their 2010 state forecast Friday morning on the second day of their annual economic outlook conference.

On Thursday, the economists said the severe national recession is over but recovery will be slow in the year ahead. They expect national unemployment to remain high ``for some time to come.''

The nationwide unemployment rate hit 10.2 percent in October. Michigan's rate was 15.1 percent.

The conference will also examine what's ahead for the auto industry and what Michigan should be doing to promote long-term economic development.
