Teacher Pleads Guilty In Racy Text Case

Clarkston (WWJ)  -- A Clarkston school teacher will spend three months in the Oakland County Jail, after pleading guilty to sending  topless photos and text messages to one of her special education students.

Twenty-eight-year-old Michelle Simonson of Oxford admitted to sending the explicit photos and texts to a 14-year-old student at Sashabaw Middle School.  She was to go on trial Thursday with the possibility of four years in prison if convicted, but reached a plea agreement in exchange for the lesser jail sentence.

Police say Simonson sent 50 text messages and a semi-nude picture of herself to the student over the course of a year. There was no physical contact between the two.

The child's foster parents discovered the the text messages and turned them over to police. Simonson resigned from her job in September.
