Lansing (WWJ) -- More than 50 laid-off state troopers who were expecting to be recalled to work once the state budget was in place will be off the job a little longer.
A spokeswoman for Gov. Jennifer Granholm's says that the budget office needs a week to 10 days to go over the Michigan State Police budget the governor signed last week.
According to the governor's office, Granholm doesn't want to recall the troopers and then have to lay them off again in 60 to 90 days if the January revenue estimating conference shows cuts are needed.
The state is struggling to keep the budget balanced as revenues decline.
