Lansing (WWJ) -- The Motor City Bowl title is no longer, but the game will still be played in late December.
George Perles, the co-founder and CEO of the Motor City Bowl, told WWJ Lansing Bureau Chief Tim Skubick Monday the title of the game will be changed because of the troubles in the auto industry.
"We're gonna be probably known as the Little Caesar's Pizza, Pizza Bowl," Perles joked adding the automakers "have been good to the Motor City Bowl for 13 years."
Perles said an official announcement is expected in a couple weeks. The Little Caesars Board is expected to vote on a possible sponsorship later this week.
The game has featured the Mid-American Conference Champion. This year's game is scheduled for December 26th at 1 p.m. at Ford Field.
Central Michigan lost last year's game to Florida Atlantic, but won the bowl game in 2006.
