Whirlpool Lets You 'Green Your Garage'

Benton Harbor-based Whirlpool Corp. said its Gladiator GarageWorks business unit is holding a "Green Your Garage" sale to help homeowners use less energy and shrink their carbon footprints.

Included in the sale is $150 off the Energy Star qualified Chillerator garage refrigerator and free home delivery. Additionally, it is offering $75 off and free home delivery of the Trash Compactor, a compactor designed specifically for the garage environment that can help consumers minimize the total volume of their trash and use fewer trash bags. The sale also includes $5 off the Storage Bin Holder, which allows for greater organization and the ability to create a recycling collection area in the garage.

GarageWorks senior marketing manager Lou Ann Schafer said the Chillerator, designed specifically for the more harsh garage environment, will also save the typical refigerator owner $49 in annual electricity costs. Use of the Chillerator garage refrigerator is 50 percent more energy efficient than similarly sized refrigerators made between 1993 and 2000 and 30 percent more efficient than similarly sized refrigerators made between 2001 and 2007.
