Warren Mayor Critical Of Obama Policies

Warren (WWJ)  -- When President Obama speaks today at Macomb Community College, he is expected to focus on job retraining and will outline policy specific to community colleges.

Warren Mayor Jim Fouts has been speaking out on Obama's policies.  Fouts tells WWJ that the President needs to refocus on trade deals that take jobs from an already highly-skilled workforce in Michigan.

"Job retraining is kind of a joke if you're going to retrain people for jobs that no longer exist. If you're going to retrain jobs for  people in Michigan related to the auto industry, those jobs have already been hijacked by the fact the federal government has allowed them to move to China or Mexico," Fouts said.

Fouts says he likes Mr. Obama and voted for him, but doesn't like the direction of his policies.

The President's speech will be to a closed audience, not a town hall style meeting that was previous announced, much to the disappointment of Fouts.

"I think that's important.  He needs to hear real people. I think I would like to hope he would hear me, I don't think he will."

Expect road and freeway ramps closures for motorcade traffic around Warren and the east suburbs once Air Force One is wheels down this afternoon.  Follow the President's visit and hear his speech live on WWJ and WWJ.com.
