Awards and Certifications From July 9

Oakland County Web Video Center Wins National Award: Oakland County’s new multimedia video center, on www.oakgov.com, was recently honored with an Achievement Award from the National Association of Counties. Oakland County is using multimedia as a new way to communicate with citizens at home and around the world. The county’s podcast series and collection of short videos make County news and information more accessible to a greater number of citizens. The Oakland County Video Center allows citizens to browse an index of recent videos, or search for videos by subject category or keyword. Clicking on a video title will launch that video within a media player on the County’s Web site. Web users can also easily send an email link to the video, or subscribe to be automatically notified of new videos using RSS. Built-in functionality allows site visitors to share the video on any of several popular social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace, or create a bookmark for the video within their Web browser or any of several bookmarking services such as Digg, Del.i.cio.us, or Reddit. Selected Oakland County videos are also available on YouTube and iTunes.

Neogen makes Fortune's list of fastest growing companies:  Fortune Magazine has named Lansing-based Neogen Corp. (NASDAQ: NEOG) to its annual list of America's 100 fastest growing small public companies. "We are very pleased that this respected financial publication has once again recognized our company's financial performance as one of the best in America," said James Herbert, Neogen's CEO. "In the financial community, as well as in our food and animal safety industry, trust is earned. We're extremely proud of the trust we've earned from our customers and investors to make this recognition possible." In making its selection, Fortune said: "Consider Neogen (number 21 on the list), a firm that specializes in products designed to enhance food safety. Food crises, involving everything from bum lettuce to tainted peanut butter, have occurred with alarming frequency of late. Based in Lansing, Mich., Neogen supplies large foodmakers with detection kits that allow them to self-test for contaminants and allergens, helping prevent mistakes that could lead to deadly consequences." In addition to its number 21 ranking on the FSB 100 list, Fortune featured Neogen as one of five companies "Thriving In Hard Times." Fortune's ninth annual list of the fastest-growing small public companies in America includes U.S.-based firms with annual revenues of less than $200 million and a stock price greater than $1.
