GM Workers React To Bankruptcy Ruling

Warren (WWJ)  -- General Motors workers speaking to WWJ Newsradio 950 Monday morning say there was no real uncertainty about GM emerging from bankruptcy, saying it has been business as usual during the process.

One unnamed GM worker says they were encouraged by the way Chrysler got out of Chapter 11 so quickly.

"They kind of cleared the path so I think it will be easier for us," he said.

Steve Cawlfrey of Warren was downsized from his auto supplier job a couple of years ago, he says it's good that an icon like GM will still be around, as other companies, like his, go by the wayside.  "It will keep the ones going still going...I'm sure they've leaned out as much as they can lean out right now...It will make them better business people."

Another GM worker, Scott Roberts of Capac makes it a point to tune out the news, being it's been more bad than good, and while word of GM's next step out of bankruptcy was good to hear, he still seemed wary about what lies ahead.

"Not a positive or a negative...well, certainly a positive because I get to stay employed all I can do is go to work, do the best I can and hope those running the place will succeed in their effort.  It's clear and it's unclear, there's no certain path to the other side yet."
