Cityfest Tickles Taste Buds, Serves Up Sounds

Detroit (WWJ)  -- It's Michigan's largest neighborhood festival and it's back for a 21st year starting Wednesday in Detroit's New Center area, along West Grand Blvd between Woodward and the Lodge Freeway.

Comerica Cityfest 2009 runs today through Sunday.  Admission is free.  Fun includes live music, shopping, kids' stuff,  and tons of food, according to festival director Julie Kouloumberis.

"We're open from 11:30 a.m. until 11 p.m., except for the 5th...we close at 8 o'clock.  You purchase tickets for food and beverages and those purchases help support the free entertainment and the community services that New Center Council does year-round," she said.

Live entertainment this year includes Todd Rundgren, Ray Parker Jr., and Buddy Guy and the Veronicas, among others.
