Lori Gleason

Milford High School, Chemistry, Physics - 9 years with FIRST

What we've heard about Ms. Gleason:

"Casey the robotic mascot has led FIRST Robotics Team 67, The HOT Team, on many a parade down the main street of Milford. Not everyone knows that the face of Casey is really the face of Lori Gleason, an extraordinary robotics teacher who masquerades as a chemistry teacher by day. Monday through Friday she can be found sharing her enthusiasm for chemistry with the students at Milford High School. After hours, seven days a week, until all hours of the night, often with a little help from Mountain Dew - she is known to be working with the HOT Team on her true passion, FIRST Robotics! Her devotion and passion for her work will forever remain in the HOT Team robotic mascot.

Lori's leadership fuels the Heroes of Tomorrow Team and provides the glue between Huron Valley Schools and sponsor General Motors Proving Ground. She recruits both students and teachers to join the team with her passion for FIRST Robotics. She is a life-long learner and multitalented roboticist. She began in 2001 teaching HOT Team students animation. Soon she had learned robot electrical skills, and she taught students robot electrical wiring and electronics for several years. Now she is a skilled machinist and mentors the HOT Team mechanical build students, teaching them how to operate lathes, mills and other machine tools to create precision mechanical components. She captures the hearts of her students with her friendliness, passion and enthusiasm. By continuously learning new mentor roles and tasks on the HOT Team, she inspires and encourages her students to achieve new heights."
