Michiganders Return From Inauguration

Detroit (WWJ)  -- Metro Detroiters who witnessed President Barack Obama's inauguration in person are bringing back the memory of a lifetime.

WWJ Newsradio 950's Ron Dewey spoke with David Bowman of Lansing, a Cooley Law student, when he got off a Washington D.C. to Detroit flight early Wednesday morning.

"I'm still a little bit in awe of the entire situation." Bowman said. "I was just really surprised at the shear mass of people who attended. [From] different walks of life.... from young to old," he said.

"I think we had a great viewing of history," said Veronica Leonard of Southfield. She said she had a great experience being at the National Mall on Inauguration Day. "It was very cold, be people were so excited to be there. That was the energy that kept us going for five or six hours while we waited for the event happen. It was like a big party," she said.

Leonard's 8-year old son says he'll have a jump on the lesson when he studies this event in History class.

"Because I was there," he said.
