Another Addition To Restored Book Cadillac

Detroit (WWJ)  -- Despite an economic downtown across the nation, new development in Detroit continues.

A new coffee shop opened Tuesday in the newly remodeled Westin Book Cadillac Hotel. And if you're a Starbucks coffee fan you may want to stop by the the WBC Grab and Go Coffee Shop.

"Originally we were going to have a fully-branded Starbucks outlet, explained Scott Steinbaugh, Director of Sales and Marketing for the Book.

"But in light of changes with Starbucks, we opted to operate it ourselves, as a hotel,  but serve Starbucks coffee," he said..

Meantime, while business at some Detroit hotels will be impacted by scaled-back 2009 North American International Auto Show, Steinbaugh says they have been very fortunate to book a couple of major Auto Show-related events, including the exclusive "Auto Glow" on Charity Preview night.

The new chapter for the Book Cadillac follows the completion of a $200 million restoration to return the historic hotel to its original splendor, re-opening in October as The Westin Book Cadillac Detroit.
