Ann Arbor ISP Folds, OTC To The Rescue

Michigan's oldest Internet service provider, Online Technologies Corp., is offering immediate assistance to the clients of a smaller Ann Arbor ISP that apparently shut down suddenly.

The Ann Arbor Chronicle reported Tuesday that Internet Applications and Solutions Inc. had been evicted from its former offices at 1327 Jones Drive. Witnesses reported seeing computers being put out on the curb.

The move disrupted the Web operations of some of the nonprofits serviced by IAS, including the Ann Arbor Community Foundation, the Ann Arbor Convention & Visotors Bureau and the Ann Arbor Arts Alliance.

The company's phone number rang unanswered Wednesday morning.

But OTC and its CEO, Mike Klein, has offered one month of free service to the organizations disrupted until they can find a permanent new home. Included are one month's free email, as well as Web site and shared server colocation.

Those affected should call Online Technologies at (734) 213-2020 to get assistance.

OTC is also offering immediate “triage” to get these companies back online as soon as possible. “This is a critical time of year for non-profits and ever hour their website is down is an hour of missed opportunity,” Klein said.

These services will be delivered from Online Technologies’ newest data center in Avis Farm’s. The 10,500 square foot data center is one of three data centers in Michigan that house Online Technologies’ growing colocation, dedicated server and managed service product lines for small and mid-sized businesses across Michigan and the Great Lakes region .
