Washington (WWJ) -- Supporters of the U.S. auto industry made their voices hat a rally in Washington D.C. Friday morning. The Big 3 CEOs were treated to a show of support at their second day of hearings on Capitol Hill.
WWJ Newsradio 950's Jeff Gilbert reports that the rally featured a representative from each state in America in effort to show the breadth of the auto industry.
Each attendee wore a jersey emblazoned with the number of jobs in his or her state that are connected to the auto industry.
Car dealer John Radolpho was there to represent South Carolina, "This is not about CEOs flying in on corporate jets, or driving in in hybrid cars," Radolpho said. "It's about six million human beings," he said.
Six million is the number of jobs that supporters say are directly and indirectly related to the American auto industry.
Mike, who works at a GM plant in Wilmington, Delaware said he knows firsthand the impact on local communities. "I had a plant close on me in Baltimore. A lot of businesses, a lot of mom and pop shops, go out of business," he said.
"That money just dries up, and it won't come back."
