Plymouth-based Stardock Corp. Wednesday announced the launch of Object Desktop 2009, its latest software to change and customize the look and feel of the Windows desktop.
Object Desktop is a suite of utilities that enables users to completely personalize the Windows experience -- change how Windows looks, feels, and functions to suit the user's preference.
The 2009 version sees upgrades and new features added to the suite of software, including the ability for Windows XP users to now create and display animated desktops, a feature that until now was only available to Windows Vista users.
The suite is divided into Standard and Ultimate options, with pricing at $49.95 and $69.95 respectively. The full list of features and additions, as well as purchasing options, is located at www.objectdesktop.com.
With combined programs downloaded more than 25 million times, Object Desktop 2009 includes WindowBlinds, IconPackager, DesktopX, WindowFX, Enhanced File Dialog, RightClick, Keyboard LaunchPad and more.
New programs added to the 2009 suite are Bootskin Pro for Windows Vista, which allows users to change the Vista boot screen, and Theme Manager 3.0, which lets users take a snap shot of their current themes and "save" them to install whenever they choose -- the program harnesses all Object Desktop programs into one simple user interface.
Additionally, IconPackager 4.0 is the only program that lets users change all of their Vista icons (including live folders) in a single click.
The latest version also allows users to export their custom gadgets as Windows sidebars.
Previous versions of Object Desktop are used by thousands of companies world-wide to create custom Windows environments for their users. PC technology companies such as Dell, Alienware, Microsoft, ATI and others have used Object Desktop to provide branded desktops to their customers.
