Michigan Pet Expo Contest Rules

 

 

 

1. HOW TO ENTER

 

a.      The WWJ Newsradio 950 and Michigan Family Pet Expo “Pet Hero Contest” (“The Contest”)will begin on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at approximately 12:01a.m. Eastern Time (“ET”) and end on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at 11:59p.m. ET (“Contest Dates”).

 

b.      To participate in the Contest, visit www.wwj.com during the Contest Dates, click on the Contest page, and enter your first and last name, complete address, city, state, zip code, daytime telephone number, evening telephone number, date of birth, valid email address, and a brief statement of up to fifty (50) words nominating your pet, who has been a hero in your life. Internet entries will be deemed made by the authorized account holder of the email address submitted at the time of entry. The authorized account holder is the natural person who is assigned to the email address by an internet access provider, online service provider or other organization that is responsible for assigning email address or the domain associated with the submitted email address. Multiple participants are not permitted to share the same email address.  All entries submitted become the sole property of WWJ-AM and will not be acknowledged or returned.  Use of any device to automate entry is prohibited.  Proof of submission of an entry shall not be deemed proof of receipt by WWJ-AM.  WWJ-AM’s computer is the official time keeping device for this Contest.  Online entries must be received by 11:59p.m. ET on Tuesday, November 11, 2008.

 

 

d.      WWJ-AM is not responsible for entries not received due to difficulty accessing the Internet, service outages or delays, computer difficulties or other technological glitches.  WWJ-AM is also not responsible for lost, stolen, mutilated, mis-delivered, postage due, illegible or untimely entries.

 

e.      Limit one (1) entry per person and per email address.

 

2. ELIGIBILITY RESTRICTIONS

 

a.      The Contest is open to all individuals who are 18 years of age or older at the time of entry and are legal United States residents living in Michigan.   Employees of Michigan Pet Expo, WWJ-AM, its licensee, and each of their respective parent, subsidiary, and affiliated entities, their advertising agencies, participating sponsors/promotional partners, other radio stations in the Detroit metropolitan area and the members of their immediate families and/or households are ineligible to participate or win.  Subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

 

b.      Winners may have to present valid government-issued photo-identification and sign a release form from WWJ-AM in order to receive prize.

 

c.      Contestants are required to provide truthful information and WWJ-AM will reject and delete any entry it discovers to be false or fraudulent. WWJ-AM will disqualify any entry from individuals who do not meet the eligibility requirements, and will also delete any entry knowingly received from persons under the age of 13 in compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act.

 

3. PRIZES

 

a.      Fifty (50) Prizes: two (2) tickets to attend the 2008 Michigan Pet Expo, November 14-16, 2008 at the Rock Financial Showplace, 46100 Grand River, Novi, Michigan 48374. The Approximate Retail Value (“ARV”) of each Prize is $18.

 

b.      Three (3) Grand Prizes: four (4) tickets to the Michigan Pet Expo and one (1) $250 gift certificate for Petland Twelve Oaks Mall, 27200 Novi Road, Novi, Michigan 48377. Each Grand Prize winner will also be invited to bring their heroic pet to the Michigan Pet Expo, Saturday, November 15 at approximately 12:00pm (Noon) for an on-stage presentation including the opportunity to share their winning Pet Hero story. Certificates expire May 31, 2009. ARV for each Grand Prize is $286.

 

c.      Prizes may be claimed at WWJ-AM, 26495 American Drive, Southfield, Michigan 48034 during normal business hours, Monday- Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. ET. Winners will forfeit any prize not claimed within thirty 30 days of winner notification of availability of prize. In the event that a prize or prize certificate is mailed to a winner, it will be with the prior written consent of the winner and therefore, winner assumes the risk of its loss. WWJ-AM is not responsible for the safe arrival of a prize or prize certificate.

 

d.  There is no substitution, transfer, or cash equivalent for prize, except that Sponsor may, at its sole discretion, substitute prize of comparable value or cash. The prize is expressly limited to the items listed above and does not include taxes, gratuities or any other expenses. Other restrictions may apply.

 

4. WINNER SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION

 

a.      Decisions of WWJ-AM management with respect to the Contest are final.

 

b.      On Wednesday, November 12^th at approximately 10:00a.m. ET, fifty (50) potential Prize winners will be selected by WWJ-AM in a random drawing of all valid entries received during the Contest Dates. Odds of winning depend upon the number of eligible entries received.

 

c.      On Wednesday, November 12^th at approximately 10:00 a.m. ET, three (3) potential Grand Prize winners will be selected from all valid entries received during the Contest Dates by a committee of WWJ-AM employees based on the nominator’s most impressive story as determined by the following elements: the nominator’s sentimental explanation and the actual heroic deed of the nominated pet. 

 

d.      Potential winners need not listen nor be present to win.

 

e.      Potential winners will be contacted by email and/or phone within twenty-four (24) hours following the selection of winners. If Prize winners cannot be reached within one (1) day of notification attempt, an alternate winner may be selected by random drawing from the remaining valid entries. Grand Prize Winners must execute and return any required Affidavit of Eligibility and/or Release of Liability Prize Acceptance Form within two (2) days of notification attempt or prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner may be chosen by the committee of WWJ-AM employees.

 

5. CONDITIONS

 

a.      Payments of all federal, state and local taxes are solely the responsibility of the winners. Winners will be required to complete and submit an IRS Form W-9 with the winner’s full Social Security Number or the equivalent for receipt of any prize valued at $600 or more or for any prizes awarded by the Station in a calendar year with an aggregate value of $600 or more. Failure to submit a complete W-9 or equivalent will result in forfeiture of the prize.

 

b.      By participating in the Contest, winners and/or their parent/legal guardian, agree to have their names, voices, or likenesses used in any advertising or broadcasting material relating to this Contest without additional financial or other compensation, and, where legal, to sign a publicity release confirming such consent prior to acceptance of the prize.

 

c.      Prior to awarding any prize or prize certificate, WWJ-AM in its sole discretion may require Contest winners and/or their parent/legal guardian, to sign a liability release, agreeing to hold Michigan Pet Expo, WWJ-AM, its licensee, and each of their respective parent, subsidiary, and affiliated entities, and the officers, shareholders, directors, employees, agents and representatives of each of them harmless against any and all claims or liability arising directly or indirectly from the prize or participation in the Contest.

 

d.      WWJ-AM, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any person tampering with the entry process, the operation of the WWJ-AM web site or who is otherwise in violation of the rules.  It further reserves the right to cancel, terminate or modify the Contest if it is not capable of completion as planned, tampering, unauthorized intervention or technical failures of any sort.  All Internet participants agree to be bound by these rules, and the Official Rules appearing above.

 

e.      WWJ-AM reserves the right to make changes in the rules of the Contest, including the substitution of a prize of equivalent value, which will become effective upon announcement.  If due circumstances beyond the control of WWJ-AM, any competition or prize related event is delayed, rescheduled, postponed, cancelled, or has a change in venue, WWJ-AM reserves the right but not the obligation to cancel or modify the Contest and shall not be required to award a substitute prize.

 

f.        Failure to comply with the Contest rules may result in a contestant’s disqualification solely at the discretion of WWJ-AM.

 

g.      WWJ-AM is not responsible for typographical or other errors in the printing, the offering or the administration of the Contest, or in the announcement of a prize.

 

h.      For the names of the prize winners, send a self-addressed stamped envelope for receipt by January 9, 2009 to “Pet Hero Contest - Winners,” Attn: Promotions, WWJ-AM, 26495 American Drive, Southfield, Michigan 48034. For Official Rules, send a self-addressed stamped envelope to the above address marked ““Pet Hero Contest – Official Rules” for receipt by November 11, 2008. The names of Prize Winners and the Official Rules will also be posted at www.wwj.com.

6. PRIVACY POLICY
