LANSING (WWJ) -- More developments in the Detroit Mayor's scandal on Monday -- this time out of Michigan's capital.
WWJ Newsradio 950 Lansing Bureau Chief Tim Skubick reports that the state House Republican leader is calling on the House Democratic leader to take up four proposals that would send a strong message to Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick:
1 - To rescind the state's $4 million in revenue that they just allocated to the city. Republican Leader Craig DeRoche said Monday it should help the mayor "make a decision on which way to go."
2 - DeRoche said he wants House Speaker Andy Dillon to allow a vote on Representative David Law's resolution, although it would be non-binding, calling on the Mayor Kilpatrick to resign.
3 - DeRoche is asking for a vote on another bill that would take away health care benefits for public officials who are convicted of a felony.
4 - One more vote on a proposed bill that would allow city's too sue their public officials if they negotiate a contract that the city's don't like. Skubick reports this measure is in reference to the $8.4 million Whistleblower case settlement.
Skubick reports that DeRoche was hoping the votes would happen this week, but that's unlikely. As of Monday afternoon it it was not yet known when, if ever, the votes would take place.
