General Motors Celebrates Its 100th Birthday

General Motors will celebratesits 100th birthday on September 16, 2008, and the company will be marking this special occasion across the world with a series of events and initiatives under the banner of GMnext.

The theme of the centennial – GMnext – reflects GM’s desire to not only celebrate its achievements from the past and present, but also to showcase its vision for the future.

There is much to celebrate for GM, which has been the global leader in car sales for the past 77 years. It has made a major contribution to the automotive world over the past century and is renowned for developing stylish, innovative and technologically-advanced vehicles.

In addition to the General Motors sponsored centennial celebrations coming in September, Year of the Car will honor GM throughout the MotorCities area with museum and collection exhibits; car shows and cruises; home and building tours; and arts and education activities.
