Memorial Day Weekend




Triple-A Michigan estimates one-point-three million Michigan residents will travel during this holiday weekend.  The state DNR repprts that the occupancy rate for the state's 12-thousand campsites stands at more than 80%.

Many of the state campgrounds in south Michigan such as Holly and Proud Lake are 100 percent full, confirming that campers are staying close to home because of sky-high gas prices.   M-DOT warns holiday travelers to steer clear of I-75 N. because of Zilwalkie Bridge construction. It's all electronica, all the time at Detroit’s premier electronic music festival. Movement showcases more than 100 performances on five different stages --  featuring legendary Detroit artists. The festival will take place Memorial Day weekend, at its home in Downtown Detroit's Hart Plaza.

Grosse Pointe War Memorial Day Service - 5/26
Commemorate the memories of the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice to keep our country free. The service starts at 10 a.m. on the lakeside lawn with a joint service color guard. Residents of all communities are invited. There is no charge to attend.

Yankee Air Museum Memorial Day Ceremony - 5/26
Commemorate our heroes who gave their lives in defense of our country with veterans and some of the magnificent machines they used to achieve victory. The day begins with a big pancake breakfast. Monday at Willow Run Airport. Among the honored guests is astronaut Jack Lousma.

Inkster Memorial Day Parade - 5/26
Remember those who've given their lives to preserve our freedom at the 37th Annual Inkster Memorial Day Parade.

Marine Forces Reserve Band at the Dearborn Memorial Day Parade - 5/26
Join others in rememberance and appreciation of the men and women who have given everything in service of our country at Dearborn's 84th annual Memorial Day Parade.

Grosse Pointe Woods-Circle of Honor - 5/26
This year marks the 26th consecutive year that Grosse Pointe Woods has sponsored this tribute to those who gave their lives in the military service of the United States.

Ferndale Memorial Day Parade - 5/26
Honoring verterans past and present, this event is recognized as the oldest Memorial Day Parade in Michigan. Pictured are the audience for the program, and the 2nd Michigan Volunteer Infantry, who always shoot the salute at the program.

Madison Heights Annual Memorial Day Parade - 5/26

City of Troy Memorial Day Observance - 5/26
Never forget that "freedom is not free." Join others at Veteran's Memorial Plaza in Troy to remember and honor all of the men and women who have served our country in the past as well as those working to support our freedoms today.

Northville Memorial Day Parade - 5/26
A parade honoring America's fallen war heroes.

Birmingham Memorial Day Ceremony and Open House - 5/26
Honor America's fallen at Birmingham's Memorial Day Ceremony and Open House.

Eastpointe Memorial Day Parade - 5/26
Spend the day honoring those who sacrificed for our freedom. The Eastpointe High School Band will be on hand along with local girl scout troops and clowns.

Farmington Memorial Day Parade - 5/26
A parade honoring America's fallen war heroes.

Beverly Hills Memorial Day Parade - 5/26
Join the fun of a parade through Beverly Hills. The parade begins at 11:30 a.m. at Groves High School, and ends at Beverly Park with a carnival. Rides, games, food and entertainment, as well as a 4- mile fun run and 2-mile walk.

Harper Woods Memorial Day Parade - 5/26
Check out the celebration with your whole family. 

Royal Oak Memorial Day Parade - 5/26
The American flag stands for freedom. On Memorial Day, visit downtown Royal Oak honor all of the Veterans who have fought to keep it that way.
