UDM Student Graduates Against the Odds

Detroit (WWJ)  -- The gift of life has helped a local woman fulfill a long awaited dream. When University of Detroit Mercy graduate Beth Ann Dalrymple of Livonia walks across the stage to accept her diploma this weekend, she'll be grinning from ear to ear, and not just for the reasons you'd expect.

For Dalrymple, the day will hold a very special significance. "I did receive a liver transplant, in January of 2006. And, because of that transplant, and because of my donor, I am here today!" she told WWJ Newsradio 950's Pat Sweeting.

Dalrymple, a Mechanical Engineering student, explained why she wanted others to hear her story, "You know, to think that I spent years to get to graduation day, and almost didn't get there... And because of the kindness of a stranger, I am here today, I'm going to graduate, and my opportunities now are endless."

Dalrymple hopes that hearing her story will makes it clear to people how organ donation can truly help save a life.
