Detroit (WWJ) -- Jurors in the so-called 'thrill-kill' trial in Wayne County went home for the night after no verdict was reached on Tuesday.
The defense rested its case just after 10 a.m. in the brutal torching and beheading trial of 18-year old Jean-Pierre Orlewicz. The Plymouth resident is charged with the killing of Daniel Sorenson last November.
Prosecutors then began presenting their closing arguments, with attorney Robert Moran telling jurors that part of the problem with the case is that no one wants to believe that Orlewicz stabbed and beheaded Sorenson because it's out of the realm of possibility.
During cross-examination of Orlewicz by the prosecution, it was noted that several trips were made to the hardware store for supplies, including Drano. It was also pointed out that several friends testified that Orlewicz wanted to kill someone.
The defense has maintained that Sorenson, who was much larger than Orlewicz, was killed in self-defense.
