Venture event coming to Detroit: The National Association of Seed and Venture Funds is bringing its 2008 annual conference to Detroit. The event will be held at the Marriott Renaissance Center from Sept. 10 to Sept. 12. The event will feature networking with top seed and early stage investors, a chance to meet with leading fund managers and national policymakers, and presentations from institutional investors on how they choose early stage funds. Speaker set for 'Creative Cities Summit': Doug Farr, a Detroit native and founder of the Chicago-based architecture and planning firm Farr Associates will be a featured presenter at the Creative Cities Summit Oct. 13-15 in Detroit. "Doug is a visionary when it comes to creating sustainable urban neighborhoods," said Peter Kagayama, co-director for the Creative Cities Summit 2.0. "In his book Sustainable Urbanism he addresses traditional urban development along with his concept of 'high performance' buildings and infrastructure. This will be an exciting conversation for our attendees."
