Grand Rapids (AP) -- Meijer Inc. has voluntarily recalled 2,184 pounds of frozen entrees from stores in four states.
The Grand Rapids-based retailer says the U.S. Department of Agriculture alerted it Friday that testing showed possible contamination with listeria, a microorganism that can cause illness or death.
The Grand Rapids Press says no illnesses have been reported. Meijer pulled the product in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio.
Meijer says 21 packages had been sold.
The recall affects 12-ounce packages of Discover Cuisine Red Curry Chicken and Jasmine Rice. The packages have a Canadian establishment number of 302 on the front and ``use by'' date of Dec. 18, 2008.
The entrees may be returned to Meijer for a refund or exchange.
