Recent regulations make the Pension Protection Act of 2006 a little difficult to understand, but some Web-based tools may help unravel some of the confusion.
The U.S. Department of Labor's Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) now is offering a series of webcasts about pensions to help employers better understand what's required under the law. One of the webcasts, now on the EBSA Web site, will be accessible through the end of February 2008.
Presented at the beginning of December, the webcast is the first in a series that addresses the new statutory exemptions on investment advice, pension benefit statements, service providers, regulations on default investments, and other facets of the law.
The webcast is offered by EBSA as part of its compliance assistance program, “Getting It Right – Know Your Fiduciary Responsibilities.”
