It's no accident that several companies on Fortune magazine's “Best Companies to Work For” list this year have a no-jerks-at-work policy.
That's according to Bob Sutton, author of "The No A**hole Rule," a New York Times and BusinessWeek bestseller and the 2007 Quill Award winner for best business book of the year. Sutton, an organizational psychologist who teaches at Stanford, who also writes a blog called “Work Matters” has written about several of the below companies and their no-a**hole rules and jerk-free work environments.
Here are just a few of the companies on Sutton's honor roll that also landed on the coveted Fortune magazine's annual list this year:
- Google (#1)
- SAS Institute (#29)
- Robert W. Baird (#39)
- Plante & Moran (#44)
- Perkins Coie (#55)
- Yahoo (#87)
Other companies that tout jerk-free workplaces include Southwest Airlines, Mozilla, Barclays Capital, Gold's Gym, Arup, SuccessFactors, and Washington Mutual.
