Researchers, Companies To Occupy Old Pfizer Space In Ann Arbor

Ann Arbor (AP)  -- University of Michigan medical researchers and four life-sciences companies will become the new tenants of a former Pfizer Inc. laboratory near the drug maker's main campus in Ann Arbor.

They are taking over Pfizer's lease of the 34,400-square-foot lab space at the Traverwood office park with the aid of a 1 million dollar state grant.

The space will be used as a modern and sophisticated research facility. The university jointly made the announcement with a nonprofit economic development and marketing organization called Ann Arbor SPARK.

The group says it's also planning two office-style business incubators in Ann Arbor and in nearby Ypsilanti to nurture startup companies in various fields.
