If you want to read a book with your child that will get him or her thinking and talking about what we eat, Peter Menzel and Faith D'Aluisio’s Hungry Plant: What the World Eats will do the trick.
The book features families from around the world, and photographs of what the family eats in one week. The families range from people living in Australia, to China, to the United States, to Africa.
Not surprisingly, the families in the United States eat many more packaged and prepared foods, while families in other parts of the world rely more on vegetables, fruits, and starches such as rice.
