Woodward Dream Cruise Adds Green Counterpart

The Woodward Dream Cruise is adding a green counterpart.

This Wednesday, Dream Cruise officials are to announe a "NextCruise" in Pleasant Ridge. In this event, nine of teh world's largest automakers will provide the public with opportunities to check out and drive the latest in green machines, including hybrids, clean diesels, and other super-high-mileage and ultra-low-emission technologies.

The idea is to provide an additional environmentally friendly and future-looking dimension to the Woodward Dream Cruise, widely viewed as the world's largest automotive spectator and participation event.

Experts from General Motors, Ford and Chrysler will participate in a panel discussion on the future of environmental technology  and discuss why the newest "green machines" are roomy, well-equipped and, in keeping with the spirit of the Woodward Dream Cruise, able to deliver surprising performance and fun.

NextCruise also will include a look at the next generation of "green" motorsports, including the ethanol-fueled Indy Series, and the American Le Mans Series, which will launch its new Green Car Challenge this year.
