Wireless Source joins e-recycling consortium

Bloomfield Hills (GLITR)  -- Bloomfield Hills-based Wireless Source is part of a three-company consortium behind a new Web site for electronics recycling, MyBoneYard, as well as a new, secure phone recycling program.

The new Web site, at www.myboneyard.com, aims to give consumers, large manufacturers and big-box retailers an alternative to traditional electronics recycling.

The other partners in the effort are Eco International and Young America.

The Wireless Source will handle the recycling of cell phones and .mp3 players as part of the effort, and will add recycling of gaming consoles within the next few months, Wireless Source CEO Robert Sullivan said.

Sullivan said Wireless Source was introduced to the other partners through a mutual customer. "After several meetings and site tours, all parties felt that if we pooled the expertise and capacity of each of the three companies, we could offer a truly unique recycling solution," Sullivan said.

Desktop and laptop computers and monitors will also be accepted by the new program. Sullivan said TVs aren't being accepted at this time but may be in the future.

Founded in 1972, Young America began as at three-client promotion fulfillment company and has grown to nine locations in five different countries offering services in rebates, sweepstakes, targeted sampling, merchandising and loyalty programs among others.
