Investor Education in Your Community



Made possible through a partnership between the Investor Protection Trust and Michigan Office of Financial and Insurance Regulation, Investor Education in Your Community offers FREE beginning and intermediate sessions to help individuals make informed investment decisions.

This industrial-strength investment education program is completely non-commercial, and free from solicitations and sales pitches.

"Knowledge and action are crucial components of being a savvy investor," says Don Blandin, president and CEO, Investor Protection Trust. 

"Too often investors are uninformed and don't take necessary action steps such as checking the background of the financial professionals to whom they entrust their money.  To be safe and wise investors, Americans must learn the essentials and use that knowledge to make good investing decisions." 

Beginning Workshop: "Investing Fundamentals" (IE 101) presents:

- An overview of the financial markets and the major exchanges

- The fundamentals of stocks, bonds and mutual funds

- Key investment terms

- Investing misconceptions and caveats

- How to select a financial services provider

- How to protect yourself from investment fraud

- Three components for building your wealth.

- Opportunity for a private, one-on-one, review of your current portfolio

The presentation and optional counseling sessions are both FREE. 


Intermediate Workshop: "Principles for Structing a Portfolio" presents:

- An overview for investment management theory

- Stock analysis techniques and various selection criteria

- Bond strategies

- Ways to compare mutual finds and exchange traded funds (ETF's)

- Step-by-step process for structuring a portfolio

- A case study to practice what you've learned

- The oppotrunity to ask questions of the experts

ALL workshops are non-commerical and free os sales pitches or solocitations.
