Southfield (WWJ) -- People going to Eastern Market for Flower Day will run into a freeway closure on I-75, but the Michigan Department of Transportation will open some lanes to help drivers headed to downtown Detroit.
Northbound and southbound I-75 will be closed between I-94 and I-375 for on-going bridge construction.
At 6 a.m. on Saturday, crews will open southbound I-75 for access to Flower Day weekend at Eastern Market. Southbound I-75 will have two lanes open from I-94 to Mack Ave, and only one lane open from Mack Ave to I-375. The southbound I-75 Chrysler Freeway ramp to southbound I-75 Fisher Freeway ramp will remain closed on Saturday.
Northbound I-75 will remain closed on Saturday. In addition, crews have re-opened the ramps from east and westbound I-94 to southbound I-75.
At 6 a.m. on Sunday, crews will open northbound I-75 from I-375 to I-94. In addition, crews will also open northbound I-75 mainline ramp to eastbound and westbound I-94. The northbound I-75 Fisher Freeway ramp to northbound I-75 Chrysler Freeway will open at 5 a.m. on Monday.
Along I-94 in Macomb County, bridge inspection crews will have intermittent single and double lane closures Sunday on eastbound and westbound I-94 at the I-696 interchange for bridge inspection. The work is slated to begin at 7 a.m. and end by 4 p.m.
There were a couple of projects that were not happening, but could still take place this weekend. On I-75 in Wayne County, crews were supposed to have a double lane closure (two right lanes) on northbound I-75 from King Road to Sibley Road for pavement repair.
In Macomb County, bridge inspection crews were expected to close the two right lanes of westbound I-696 from Gratiot to Van Dyke.
For the start of the work week, beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, May 19, the following ramps will close at the I-94/Harper Road interchange:
Eastbound I-94 exit to Harper Road north Eastbound I-94 exit to Harper Road south Harper Road entrance to eastbound I-94 Those ramps will remain closed until Memorial Day.
