Walk-in H1N1 Mass Vaccination Clinic In Huron Township

The Wayne County Department of Public Health will conduct its next H1N1 walk-in mass flu vaccination clinic from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21, at Huron High School, 32044 Huron River Drive, in New Boston.

FluMist nasal spray and injectable vaccine will be available at the clinic for priority at-risk residents based on age and health status.

Children, 9 years of age and under, should receive two doses of the H1N1 vaccine, given 28 days or later after the first dose. Individuals, ages 10 through adult, require one dose.

The Wayne County Department of Public Health continues to focus on vaccinating targeted H1N1 at-risk priority groups as follows:

• Pregnant women
• Individuals 6 months to 24 years of age
• Persons who live with or provide care for children less than 6 months of age
• Adults 25 to 64 years of age with underlying medical conditions
• Health Care workers and Emergency personnel

“Wayne County is pleased with the community response to our Public Health efforts with thousands of residents already vaccinated to protect themselves against the H1N1 virus,” said Robert A. Ficano, Wayne County Executive. “We continue to offer clinics throughout the County and encourage vaccinations for individuals in priority groups.”

Loretta V. Davis, Director/Health Officer, Wayne County Department of Public Health, said: “We ask residents and their families to please pre-register for the clinics, if possible, by downloading and completing the immunization forms and then bringing them along. Pre-registration helps expedite the vaccination process.”

Pre-registration for the H1N1 vaccination is offered on the Wayne County website, www.waynecounty.com, click on H1N1 link.
