U-M Study Links Irregular Sleep Patterns, Depression

Ann Arbor (WWJ)  -- Newborn babies are notorious for irregular sleep schedules - and new research from the University of Michigan indicates that mothers who suffer from depression are more likely to have babies with chaotic sleep cycles.

Researchers say the study points to the need for new parents to establish healthy sleep patterns in their kids during the first six months of life.

They say irregular sleep patterns in infancy might lead those babies to be more susceptible to their own depression later in life.
