The Plight Of The Frog

If things seem quieter at night than they used to be – they are. Frogs and toads, long the singing stars of the evening, have declined in population, due to the effects of global warming, habitat change and human pollution.

School children from throughout the Detroit area have created artwork to draw attention to the plight of the frog, and this art is on display at the Detroit Zoo through the end of December.

The pictures, drawn by young people from throughout the region, feature depictions of Michigan’s frogs, toads and other amphibians. The Zoo, which hosts the National Amphibian Conservation Center is a good place to see frogs and toads on your visit as well.
