Summer Field Trip to Downtown Detroit

With the weather heating up, it is the perfect season to take your child to the downtown Detroit waterfront. The General Motors Renaissance Center offers free one hour tours of the facility, which include the history of the site, a view of the waterfront, and a view from the 72nd story of the building.
Seen from the 360 degree view of the restaurant Coach Insignia, the geography of Detroit unfolds before you, from neighbor Windsor across the river, to the boulevards of Detroit radiating from the waterfront like spokes on a wheel. Children can also see the range of economics of Detroit, from the new GM cars in the lobby, to the tanker shipping that passes in front of your eyes on the river.
