Hughes telematics appoints new exec: Atlanta-based Hughes Telematics announced Thursday that Anne Marie Marx has been appointed senior director of product launch. In this position, Marx will work alongside the company's automotive partners in launching its telematics solutions into the marketplace. Marx previously led program management activities in business and service development for OnStar. She was instrumental in preparing OnStar to launch in Shanghai, China while supporting other global regional launch assessments. During her OnStar tenure, Marx also was responsible for the successful integration and launch of OnStar across multiple product lines for General Motors. Marx earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Detroit and a master of science degree in engineering and technology management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Asterand adds new director: Asterand plc (LSE: ATD), the Detroit provider of human tissue and services to pharmaceutical companies engaged in drug discovery research, announces the appointment of Ian Ratcliffe as a non-executive director, effective immediately.  Ratcliffe is currently president and CEO of Stemgent Inc., a Boston life science company focused on the development and sale of novel consumable reagents for use in stem cell research. Prior to this position, he served as president of Upstate, a leading provider of cell signaling research products and services. In this position  Ratcliffe was instrumental in facilitating the acquisition of Upstate by Serologicals Corp. and was subsequently retained as president of the Upstate division. Ratcliffe has a degree in chemical engineering from University of Surrey and an MBA from the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Virginia.
