Edward Vielmetti Named Blogging Leader at AnnArbor.com: Edward Vielmetti, a seasoned technology and new media expert, is the new blogging leader for AnnArbor.com. He will help to recruit and manage bloggers and other contributors for new Web-driven media company.  He also will blog for AnnArbor.com. As part of AnnArbor.com's Community Team, Vielmetti will also be instrumental in coordinating the company's social media efforts as well as its community outreach and engagement.  He begins his new duties with AnnArbor.com today. Vielmetti brings a strong background in digital technology and blogging to his new role with AnnArbor.com. Over the past 20 years, he has worked in various areas of Internet development, including helping to build software and infrastructure for network security, payment processing, e-mail and Web searching. Previously Vielmetti worked for Pure Visibility, an Internet marketing company; Socialtext Inc., an enterprise wiki company; Cisco Systems; and MSEN Inc., which was the first commercial Internet service provider in the state of Michigan. Locally, Vielmetti is perhaps best known as the organizer of weekly A2B3 Thursday lunches at Eastern Accents in downtown Ann Arbor. The gathering brings together a wide variety of people from the local technology community. He also maintains popular blogs dubbed Vacuum and Superpatron.  Edward is on the board of Assistive Media and the steering committee for the annual Festifools parade. AnnArbor.com is a web-driven media company that will cover local news with an emphasis on immediacy and constant updates, while also creating an online community that allows people to gain, share and create content on whatever topics are important in their lives. It also will publish a newspaper in print twice a week, on Thursday and Sunday. The Web site for AnnArbor.com will launch the week of July 20, and the first print edition will be published on July 26.
