Spring Is Here: Head For The Farm
Russell Olwell Reporting
|
With the arrival of spring, it is time to get outdoors for some learning experiences. The season is perfect for a visit to the working farm at the Henry Ford, where the Greenfield Village farm of Harvey Firestone is still going strong. This farm, moved from Ohio in 1985, is typical of a nineteenth century Midwest farm, down to the species of chicken you can chase around the farmyard today. During the spring, the farm comes to life, with fields planted and barnyard animals raising their newborns. The farm is a lesson in history, biology and agricultural science all in one!
