Sparks Fly Over Detroit Tunnel Deal
Detroit (WWJ) -- Sparks flew during a heated Detroit City Council session on Thursday. Council rescinded a first step that would have paved the way for the sale of Detroit's side of the Windsor Tunnel, a move the mayor hoped would have raised $65 million.
Council President Ken Cockrel said former Deputy Mayor Anthony Adams, who was at the meeting on the Mayor's behalf, came across as too arrogant, "I think the mayor needs to think really carefully about who he sends up here, and get some people to bite their tongue" Cockrell said.
Adams was thrown out of the meeting following a heated discussion over the tunnel deal.
WWJ Newsradio 950's Florence Walton attended the meeting, and got the argument on tape. Listen:
The exhange took place while Windsor TV cameras were rolling. The city of Windsor has postponed the sale, saying Detroit is too divided over the issue.
