Sheriff Gives Details of Mayor Booking
DETROIT (WWJ) -- Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick arrived at the Wayne County Jail at around 1 p.m. Thursday, at which time he was taken inside, fingerprinted, searched, photographed and placed in a cell.
Speaking to WWJ Newsradio 950's Pat Sweeting and other reporters, Wayne County Sheriff Warren Evans said precautions are being taken to ensure the mayor's safety.
Evans said the mayor recieved a dark green Wayne County jail jumpsuit. "He will be put in a restricted area, where we keep high-profile people," Evans said.
The mayor will have a telephone in his cell in which numbers he will need to call will be pre-programmed.
