Senior Citizen of the Year Nominations Sought

Know a Michigan senior who has made outstanding contributions this past year?  Nominate him or her for Senior Citizen of the Year!

Two adults age 60 or older will be recognized at the 2008 Michigan State Fair by the Michigan Office and Commission on Services to the Aging and the Michigan State Fair for their contributions to others in volunteer or unpaid capacities.  The awards will be presented in two categories, leadership and service.

These awards are presented every year to recognize the special efforts of two older adults,” said Sharon Gire, director of the Office of Services to the Aging. They have demonstrated citizenship at its very best, and they deserve to be recognized for their contributions to our state.

The awards highlight contributions made by older adults to civic and social life over the past year.  Award recipients will be invited to attend an awards ceremony that will take place on Seniors’ Day, Monday August 25, at the 2008 Michigan State Fair in Detroit.

For more information or to obtain a nomination form, go to the Michigan Office of Services to the Aging Web site or call (517) 373-8230.
