Science Museums Bring Learning To Life

Taking your child to science museums is a great way to reinforce and extend what they are learning in school. Even when it's sunny, but it is still cold at the University of Michigan Exhibit Museums’s Science at the Poles exhibit. Learn about how scientists study ecology, geology and climate change at the end of the earth.

Located in Ann Arbor, the museum also features exhibits on genetics, dinosaurs, animal life and native cultures. There is also a digital planetarium featuring star shows and a special program on the origins of life.

When the weather is warm, taking your child out to see the stars is a great way to interest them in earth and space science. This can be as simple as taking time out to look at the night sky in the backyard, or can involve a trip to a larger telescope. Tracking stars, constellations, and other celestial bodies can help your child better understand what is out there in the universe.

Many observatories, such as EMU’s Sherzer observatory, offer public viewings with equipment far more powerful than you have in your backyard.
