Metro Detroit (WWJ) -- Van Dyke and 11 Mile Road--it's one of Metro Detroit's busier intersections, and according to the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments, it's the worst one in town for accidents.
SEMCOG says that Macomb County intersection saw 654 crashes from 2003-07, the most among Wayne, Oakland, Macomb and Livingston counties.
Second on the list was 11 Mile and Southfield, with 587 fender-benders. 12 Mile and Telegraph was third (563), Highland and Williams Lake was fourth (344), and 12 Mile and Orchard Lake rounded out the top five (342).
Wayne County's worst intersection was Ford and Haggerty, with 327 crashes in that span, Livingston County's biggest problem spot was Grand River at I-96 (191).
SEMCOG says the number of overall crashes in the area and the state rose slightly last year, ending a nine-year run of declines, though there were fewer injuries and fatalities.
