Revival in Detroit: DIA, MotorCity Casino open, Book Cadillac project makes progress

There were two big, ritzy grand openings in Detroit this week. WWJ Newsradio 950 attended both – and checked on the progress of another one that’s about a year away from happening.

Over the weekend, the newly rehabbed Detroit Institute of Arts re-opened with a 32-hour marathon celebration that drew thousands of people. Yesterday, the MotorCity Casino Hotel had its long-awaited debut.

WWJ also took a sneak peak at the restoration of Detroit's fabled Book Cadillac Hotel. The historic building is being transformed into the Westin Book Cadillac, which will feature a hotel, condominiums, retail stores, restaurants and space for conferences and other events.
