Poll: Prez Race Still Close In Michigan

DETROIT (WWJ)  -- A new poll of likely Michigan voters shows a close and stable statewide presidential race.

An EPIC-MRA poll released Sunday by The Detroit News and television stations WXYZ, WILX, WOOD and WJRT shows 43 percent of those polled would vote for or lean toward Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, and 41 percent would opt for Republican presidential candidate John McCain.

The Aug. 18-21 telephone survey of 600 likely voters has the same results as a mid-July survey conducted by the same

Both polls have a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.

The new poll also shows continued polling in the low single digits for third-party candidates Ralph Nader and Bob Barr.
